A real-time AI interview assistant that runs on your desktop.

Interview Assistant AI is a Windows application that watches the screen you choose, listens to the call, and streams an answer into a small overlay window while the interview is still happening. It connects to your own OpenAI or Anthropic key instead of a bundled AI subscription.

DEFINITION

What is an AI interview assistant?

An AI interview assistant is software that observes an ongoing interview — through the screen, the audio, or both — and generates a written answer to the question being asked while the conversation continues. It's a category built for the specific, time-boxed pressure of an interview rather than general-purpose chat.

Interview Assistant AI is one implementation of that idea: a desktop app rather than a browser tab or a bot that joins the call, a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) model rather than bundled AI credits, and a local-first design that never writes a captured frame or audio clip to disk.

HOW IT WORKS

How Interview Assistant AI works

  1. 01

    Pick a screen or window

Choose any display or a single window — a coding editor, a shared slide deck, the call itself — from a live picker. Nothing is captured until you start.

  2. 02

    Optionally add the call's audio

Turn on meeting audio and the app mixes your microphone with the call's system output, transcribes it with Whisper, and feeds the transcript in as context alongside the screen.

  3. 03

    Ask, or let it watch

Type a question or click Analyze now for one answer, or switch on Continuous mode to re-check the source automatically every 0.5 to 10 seconds.

  4. 04

    Read the streamed answer

The response streams into a compact, always-on-top card that carries Windows' own exclude-from-capture flag, so it stays out of screen shares and most recordings while you read it.

SCOPE

What it doesn't do

It doesn't run, execute, or test your code — it reads the pixels on screen (a problem statement, your code so far, a whiteboard) the same way a person looking over your shoulder would, and reasons about what it sees.

It doesn't integrate with Zoom, Teams, or Meet through an API. It captures the screen and audio at the OS level, which is what lets it work with any call software without an integration that can break on the next vendor update.

The overlay's capture exclusion is an operating-system hint, honored by capture APIs on Windows 10 build 2004 and later — best-effort, not a guarantee, and it won't hide anything from a phone or camera pointed at your monitor.

PLATFORMS

Platforms and call software

Windows 10 (build 2004+) and Windows 11 are supported today; a macOS build is in progress and will ship into every plan, including lifetime, at no extra cost. Because the app reads pixels and audio rather than a vendor API, it works the same way in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, CoderPad, HackerRank, or any other application that can share your screen.

PRICING

Pricing

$8 a month, $5 a month billed annually, or $80 once for a lifetime licence — one feature set across all three. You bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key and pay that provider directly for the tokens you use; the subscription or licence pays for the software only.

FAQ

Questions about the AI interview assistant

Is Interview Assistant AI free?

No. It's $8 a month, $5 a month billed annually, or $80 once for a lifetime licence, and you separately pay your AI provider for usage on your own key.

Does it work with Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet?

Yes. It reads the screen and audio you select rather than integrating with a specific vendor's API, so it works the same way in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and any other application you can share your screen from.

Do I need to install anything in the meeting app itself?

No. Interview Assistant AI is a separate desktop window that captures your chosen screen or window from the outside — it never joins the call as a bot or plugs into the meeting software.

Can the interviewer tell I'm using it?

On Windows 10 build 2004 or later, the app's own window carries the OS exclude-from-capture flag, so a screen share composites it out. That's a best-effort OS mechanism covering only this app's window, not a guarantee — see the full threat model on the security page.

Is my data private?

Captured frames and audio are never written to disk; only the analysis request goes to your chosen AI provider, and audio chunks go to OpenAI Whisper for transcription. There's no account and no backend server of ours in between.
